Okay, don't panic!I came back from Geneva on the 6th May, and then was down with fever, sore throat, flu, cough; you name it, all the swine flu symptoms!I can sense the fearful tones when colleagues were talking to me. Everyone keeps asking have I gone to see doctor. I said yes. Then, they suggest, why don't I go to the hospital for a thorough checking. I said probably will. Then, they changed their suggestion to question again, have I went for the checking. And the question keep repeating till I finally went to the GH.It was a first time experience in GH, and also a first time experience where I was questioned like a criminal by a stranger (my mom who in this case, is excluded). I was not doing any crime, I was just doing virus! They took down every single details I told them on my trip, when I go where, when my temperature strike up to 102 Fahrenheit, and bla bla bla. GH, where slow response has already been expected, has made me waited for about hour before the doctor approached me. Then, after the doctor questioned me, it took another hour and half until the doctor came again and stuffed me with a bag of colorful medicines and told me to quarantine myself at home. I was surprised blood test is not necessary, and I do not need to spend my first night in the creepy ward. Phew! Conclusion I made from this unfortunate event:- Friends could be more nagging than mom, at times.
- My childhood doubt has started to haunt me again, is she my real mom or adopted one? Surprisingly, my mom did not keen in sending me to the hospital this time. She just asked me to finish the medicine from clinic, which is not like her usual style. Normally, she will be the first to send me off to the hospital even I only suffered from a mild stomachache.
- Free leaves. More free leaves to spend at home, with food delivered to me at every meal. I hardly get to be spoiled.
- Rumors spread like virus, fast and sometimes inaccurate. I was impressed how my case has been a hit in the office, even Michael mentioned on the phone and my manager call to monitor my situation every single day. Well, most people tend to get the wrong side of the story. Maybe it is juicier in that way it sounds.
I have recovered, and am 98.23% virus-free now.
Okay, don't panic! It's just flu, not swine flu!
